Software

This section contains different versions of the software, a change log is available here. It might be necessary to keep 32-bit and 64-bit versions in separate folders.

If you are a new user, you should:
  1. Download the latest version of HAWC2.
  2. Extract the zip file and run get_mac_adresses.exe, which will produce a *.mac file
  3. Send the *.mac file to hawcstab2@windenergy.dtu.dk
  4. Receive the updated licensemanager.dll once produced and sent by DTU Wind Energy
  5. Download HAWCStab2 and place it and the license manager (and possibly also the libiomp5md.dll) in the folder of your choice.

Version 2.15 - OCTOBER 23. 2018

 
  • Steady state response validated against HAWC2 12.6
  • The user manual is updated.
  • Bug fixes:
    • The Rayleigh damping matrix for the remaining turbine is now also computed if a blade only analysis has been done before.
    • The influence of wind speed change on thrust coefficient in the dynamic inflow model has been corrected.
    • The command line version can now compute with a constant torque controller above rated.
    • The logarithmic decrement damping for the tower now behaves correctly again (same damping computed as in HS2 2.13).
    • Unintentional line breaks in the transfer function output files are removed.
  • Changes:
    • Now in the .amp file we write the components of the last node of a body named 'tower'. If there are no bodies named like this, the last body of the ground fixed substructure is selected.
    • The mode sorting has been updated and is more robust. See the manual for details.
    • The maximum lift coefficient for an airfoil section to be considered 'zero-lift' is now 0.01 to avoid problems in the dynamic stall model.
    • Rotor and drive train inertia are now included in the power output file.
  • New features
    • The optimal operating conditions can be computed at the wind speeds listed in the operational_data_file. The need for equidistant spacing is removed.

  • Steady state response validated against HAWC2 12.5
  • Updated user manual and now with pdf bookmarks.
  • Minor bug fixes:
    • Controller tuning.
    • When zooming in on plots.
    • Rayleigh damping matrix for the remaining turbine would not be computed if the blade analysis was done first.
  • Changes
    • Added the real part of the aero(servo)elastic eigenvalues in the last columns of the *.cmb file.
    • Extra column with element elongation data in the *_dfl_u*.ind output file when calculating the steady state element deflections.
    • When using HAWC2S, the file names of the output has been sanitized and is now also documented in the user manual.
    • Nodal positions and element rotations are now described in the coordinate system of the last body on the rotor, i.e., the blade.
  • New features
    • A new automatic mode sorting routine that does not require any user input.
    • Command to save the eigenvalues when using the command line version HAWC2S.
    • Optionally define a controller tuning output file name.
    • The steady state computation generates two additional output files (see user manual for description).
  • Removed features
    • Saving of the animation of the eigenmodes was broken, and has been removed.
