HAWCStab2 can perform different wind turbine modal analysis: structural, aeroelastic and aero-servo-elastic.
Structural modal analysis can be done both at standstill and with a rotating rotor. This allows to estimate the wind turbine Cambell diagrams.
Aeroelastic modal analysis includes the interaction between the structure and the aerodynamic. This analysis allows to investigates problems that can occur during wind turbine design such as instabilities, critically-low damped modes, and resonances.
Figure 1 below: The aero-servo-elastic, i.e. closed.loop aeroelastic, modal analysis can be performed to investigates the interaction of the wind turbine controller on the wind turbine dynamics.
